Baking a favorite childhood treat with a fun twist.
No matter how old your children get, they will always be your babies… and they will always come running for fresh cookies! My kids (who are all 18 and older) asked me to whip up a batch of s’mores cookies, and I couldn’t say no. There is nothing like a warm kitchen to bring the family together… even if it is just for 5 minutes. Haha! Here is how these gooey, delicious treats came together!
Starting with a classic s’mores base before scooping the dough on top!
Looking at how all these different ingredients get layered together got me thinking about our own journeys. Sometimes, we try to cram too many things into our lives, or unexpected trials happen that deeply scar or hurt us. We carry weight from past trauma or mistakes we wish we could undo.
But the beautiful truth about our Creator is that nothing catches Him by surprise. He already knows every single step you are going to take for the rest of your life. No matter what you have walked through, God can still take your story and turn it into something stunningly beautiful. As Scripture promises in Romans 8:28:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…”
He is still able to use you exactly as He planned from the very beginning!

Trusting the Master Baker’s Oven
Sometimes, we just have to step back and let the Maker do what He needs to do to restore us. As Isaiah 64:8 reminds us, “We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Or in our case, He is the Master Baker!
Just like these s’mores cookies, if I don’t let them bake long enough at the exact right temperature, the chocolate bar and the marshmallow hidden in the center won’t melt into that perfect, gooey consistency. In the very same way, we have to allow God to slowly heal and restore us.
Passing through the “heat” of life can feel incredibly hard and uncomfortable, but remember that those testing times are building your character, stretching your faith, and molding your heart. At just the right time, you will blossom and emerge into the perfect creation He designed you to be—gushing with His loving goodness, just like a warm marshmallow!
